MRS PANKHURST RE-ARRESTED
COMMITTED TO HOLLOWAY GAOL. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, May 26. Mrs Pankhurst has been re-arrested. She was leaving Dr Ethel Smyth’s house in Woking, which 12 detectives had been watching day and night, not allowing anybody to leave without establishing their identity. Mrs Pankhurst was subsequeutly committed to Holloway gaol.
AN ATTEMPTED RESCUE. AT THE PRISON GATES. (Received May 27. 11.30 p.m.). LONDON, May 27. Mrs Pankhurst was arrested _ when attempting to motor to a meeting at the London Pavilion. When sho was removed to Holloway Gaol four motors containg 20 women followed, and attempted to rush the prison gates... The warders had difficulty in closing them. An attempt to blow up the Elginhaugh bridge at Ashbank with gunpowder was made. There were two explosions, but the damage done was not serious.
