Mr. H. D. do Lautour, who is booked to leave Wellington Tor England by the r.s. Tonic on Thursday next, is experiencing some difficulty in getting away from Gisborne. He was one oi' those who made the attempt to connect with the s.s. Mokoia on Sunday night, but consoled himself with the thought that he would be able to get away by the s.s. Takajnina last night. As file ha-r.bv.-r was stilt weatherbound last evening, Air. do Lautour was again doomed to disappointment. His only chance of catching his boat now lies with the s.s. Rum, which is timed to saii for Napier this morning.

At yesterday’s meeting of the High School Board, tho chairman (Mr E. H. Mann) made reference to the departure from the district of Air J. W. Bright, who was a Governor. Air Bright had mentioned to the speaker that he left tho matter of his seat on tho Board entirely to themselves, as to whether lie should resign or not. Air Bright had been a Governor for many years and had always been very keen" in regard to matters educational. In the hope that Air Bright will soon la? restored to good health, Air Maim moved that lie should be granted leave of absence. Air J : It. Kirk seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
