Alonorail, who was purchased by Mr H. Hayo from 11. do Lautour for 210 guineas, will remain in Frank Coombs’ care. It has been decided to add tho chestnut to the list, and this will be done by Dr C. Ring. Alaster Theory, who claimed many admirers for the Great Northern Hurdles, bolted with his rider on Monday monring, and on Tuesday morning, on E lulling up after working, was very une indeed. At this juncture Alaster Theory looks as though ho may be written off the list, which is bad luck for Trainer D. Moraghan.—“N. Z. Herald.” Hoanga is claimed to be one of the fittest of the jumping division at Ellerslie. , Trainer Frank Lootnb has purchased Scorch and Shepherd’s Bush from Air H. de Lautour. He has also leased the same gentleman’s two-year-old Lady Alicia. “Phaeton” says that Scorch will probably be raced at the Great Northern meeting, and afterwards at Napier Park, Gisborne, and the AVellington fixtures. Armagh and Okaihau were associated in a spin over the steeplechase course at Ellerslie on Tuesday. The pair negotiated the sod _ wall, stand double, and stone wall in good style, also the old water jump. .Along the back the pace was slow, hut going over the hill they warmed up t-q it, and from this on there was no loitering on the way. At the stone wall coming into the "straight Armagh raced up to Okaihau, but tho latter was a little in front crossing tho sod wall, double, and stone wall. It was a good schooling effort. Irish Alaid, by Spalpeen, is making good progress as a hurdler. " Prince Soult has been added t-o the list. Tiri 'is doing good work at Ellerslie.
Lloyds and Pat have been giving attractive displays at Ellerslie. “Phaeton” says some people hold the opinion that Air Alorse has taken a lot of liberty in letting off AVhakaweira with 9.0 in the Great Northern Hurdle Race. Whakaweira beat a good field in the Ellerslie event two years ago. Captain Jingle and Golden Sky aro leaving for Sydney this week in charge of C. Boyle. The Canterbury Joekev Club refused C.
