“THE MERCHANT OF VENICE.”
DRAMATIS PERSONAE. The Gisborne Shakespeare Society, will give a public reading of “The Merchant of Venice” at Wliinray’s Hall on Thursday, June 5, the whole production to be under the proven supervision of Mr E. H. Mann. The dramatis personae lias’been arranged and tho cast is understood to bo a specially strong ope, so that an enjoyable* evening may bo looked forward to. The following are taking part:— The Duke of Venice, Mr A. Webb; Antonio (a Merchant of Venice), Mr J. A. Nicoll; Bpssanio (his kinsman, suitor to Portia), L. T. Burnard; Salanio, F. R. Ball; Salarino, C. G. Bloore; Gratianio, W. Samson; SalerioyF. R. Ball; Lorenzo (in love with Jessica), S. L. Etherington; (Shylock (a rich Jew), M. G. C. Pasco; Tribal (a Jew, his friend), F. J. Rowley; Launcelot Gobbo (the clown, servant to Shylock), H. Robb; Portia (a rich heiress), Miss Hilda Hogg; Verissa (her waiting maid), Miss Sievriglit; Jessica (daughter to Shylock), Miss Florance.
