FIENDISHLY POWERFUL.

THE BOMB AT ST. PAUL’S. SUFFRACETTES’ CRIME CARNIVAL. CRICKET PAVILION BURNED. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT] LONDON, May 7. The two bombs which were discovered—one in St. Paul’s and the other at tho Grand Hotel—contained detonators, clockwork, screws, bolts, and explosives. The ticking of tho clockwork in tlnf bomb at St. Paul’s Cathedral attracted the verger’s attention. How it was placed in the choir’s quarters is a mystery. Tho actress, Ada Ward, who was arrested in connection with the bomb found at the Grand Hotel, has been discharged, the police being satisfied with her proof of alibi. Tho bomb placed m St, Paul’s Cathedral was the size of a pound mustard tin. Its explosion would have ■wrecked the choir’s quarters, tho marble reredos, and Grinling Gibbon’s carvings. The police described the bomb as small, but fiendishly powerful. Suffragettes burnt the cricket pavilion at Fulham. They also set fire to an unoccupied house at Finchley, and attempted to burn two’bungalows at Bexhill.

The fact that the women’s suffragette movement is in a worse position than it was a year ago is ascribed by the newspapers as largely due to militancy.

Tho “Westminster Gazette” states that Parliament felt that if it passed Mr. Dickinson’s Bill it would be acting in tho teeth of public opinion. Yesterday’s majority against the Bill included many members who favor a small number of women voters, but not six millions forthwith.
