ANOTHER EASY WIN FOR MANGAHEIA. •’Rt TELEGRAPH—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT] PALMERSTON N., March 28.. To-day Mangaheia secured an easy win over Rangitikei. The teams were Mangaheia—R. Reynolds, G. M. Reynolds, R. Sherratt, J R. Murphy. Rangitikei.—ll. Dalrymple, G. IT. Wilson, K. W. Dalrymple, R. Wilson. Rangitikei commenced setting the pace, and, after being driven back on the defensive for a period, returned to the open and scored. Mangaheia almost iinmcdaitely repeated the performance and equalised matters. The second spell saw Rangitikei holding their own. No score was notched during tlio spell. R. Wilson missed a good opportunity to score in the third Apell, after hanging tli{e 'ball right up in front of the goal. After some good hitting and following up the Gisborne team were rewarded by a second goal. On changing sides Rangitikei badly missed again. Play was then even until the spell ended. Resuming, Gisborne forced Rangitikei. The ball, on again being placed in play, was speedily located by Gisborne behind the goal. Rangitikei added their second goal within half a minute of the opening of the fifth round. Gisborne then bad hard luck in driving a. ball across the goal. At a later stage another clianco was missed, the ball being left for the hitter right ’in front of the goal. Rangitikei also showed had direction. Gisborne, in the 6th round, took the play to Rangitikei territory and a miss ]>v Rangitikei gave an easy goal to Gisborne. Another very neat goal also went to Gisborne, Play became exceedingly willing before the round closed. The superior skill of Gisborne again asserted itself in tlie_ final. spell, when two goals followed in quick succession. Another arrived just on the close, bringing the total for Gisborne to S as against Rangitikei’s 2. ‘For Mangaheia R . Reynolds'scored 5, G. M. Reynolds 1, R. Sherratt 1, and J. R. Murphy 1. Dalrymple and White scored for Rangitikei. To-morrow Mangaheia does not play. OTHER MATCHES. [PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM! PALMERSTON N., March 28. The New Zealand Polo tourney for tile Seville Clip-was continued to-day m fine weather on a fast course, rue games all round were more interesting than on the first day, being more evenly contested. • 'The To Awamutu team played their first match to-day. They are a vigorous hitting team, and it would not 1)3 a surprise if they come near winning. The dav’s results were as follow: Te Awamutu beat Pareawanui 4 to 2. Mangaheia beat Rangitikei 8 to 2, Hawke’s Bay beat Remuera 6 to 5. Manmvheia now leads with two wins, all’ the”others, with the exception of Manawatii; having one each. Manawatn, who lost on the first day, did not play to-day.
