HOSPITAL BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Cook Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was hold last evening. Present: Messrs Howard Kerrway (acting chairman), Jex Blake, Humphreys, W. Webb, R. Johnston and Boland. CORRESPONDENCE.

' 'flic Society for the Health of Women and Children acknowledged the Board’s assurance of assistance. The Audit Office certified the Board’s balance sheet.

Mr W. J. McClislde forwarded the account for balance of purchase money of land sold to the Board, also the extras on road deviation and culverts, as arranged andt sanctioned by the Engineer and passed as complete. Tile account was- as follows: Balance land purchase account, £500; road deviation and alteration on top of hill, £2O; road deviation and alteration back of hill, £5; 2 culverts, timber pipes and labor, £0 10s; total. £531 10s.—Mr G. J. "Winter, civil engineer, certified that Mr M'-C'lisky had completed the road through. Mr Clayton’s property to the terrace at the Hospital site, in accordance with the specification/ For the work. Mr MeCliskie was entitled to receive £3l 10s. —The matter was referred to the Hoad Committee. Messrs Jex-Blake and Holden. REPORTS. The report as to patients, dated December 20, was as follows ; In Hospital Nov. 14, 47 ; admitted November 17 to December 19, S 3; discharged. November 14 to December 19, 60; died November 14 to December 19, 7; in Hospital at December 19, 63. The- custodian of the Old People’s Homo reported that there were in the home 14 inmates (12 men and 2 women). three men being admitted dining the month and 2 discharged. Nurse Cormaek reported having visited the following pahs during the month: Puha. Tapuihikitia, TVaituki, Mangatu. Pakowhai, To Arai, Muriwai, Otoko, Tvaitoki and Tawatapu. There was not much sickness, save for mumps at Muriwai, Tvaitoki and Tawatapu. The Sanitary Inspector (Mr E. 0. YoMb) reported that he had investigated 7 eases of typhoid, 2 of scarlet fever and 1 of tuberculosis and had disinfected 11 homes. He had visited and inspected several places. FINANCE. The Treasurer’s statement disclosed a credit balance of £7IOO 7s 6>d. Accounts to he paid totalled £336 9d (Hospital £235 3s 2d. Charitable Aid £lOl. 5s I0d), thus reducing the credit to £6763 18s 6d.
