I The lamb market is somewhat steadier. There is a better demand for heavy-weights. Canterbury s'Jd lot liglit-weight, sj d for heavy-weight; other than Canterbury ,_ s*d. The beef market is quiet, with small business doing in frozen meat. Quotations are nominally unchanged, viz., New Zealand hindquarters 3|d, forequarters 3Jd. j The butter market is quiet, but (steady. Danish 128 s, Australian 11D, i Siberian 108 s. j 'lhe'cheese market is firm, with an | upward tendency. Canadian 07s for i white, 07s Od for colored, i The hemp market is quiet. Buyers j are holding hack on account of high ! price.-,. On spot New Zealand, good to fair grade, £27 ss; fair grade, £25 15s ; fair current- Manila, £26 ss; Oc-tober-December shipments New Zea- - land good to fair, £27 ss; fair grade. i £25 10s: fair current Manila, £27 to : £27 us. The wool market is firm, with a har- ; doniug tendency for crossbreds. - Cur- , rent quotations for Bradford tops are : 36’s (How crossbreds) Is 1 -pi, 50’s (lialfbreds) Is 6kl. 56’s (quarter-breds) Is 9d, GO’s (merinos) 2s 2d. . Cocksfoot seed shows no alteration in the market since last week. Continental has been offered at 55s Od, with no buyers. River Plate shipments received during the month of August, 1912, were: London : Alutton, 75,447 car eases, lamb 27,738; Liverpool. 111,071 and 30,219; Hull, 9,114 and 291; Newcastle, 7089 and nil: Southampton, 19,92 s and 9761: Cardiff. 300 and ml; totals' 222,949 and 60,010. -For August. 1911, the totals were 257,717 and 125.666.
