(to the editor.) Hir, —In "Politician's” masterly re-' sumo of the position of the Borough Council, when Air Lystinr and his satellites decided that it would be beneficial if he took a trip to London, and the subsequent events, he has made two errors. (1) Cr. Sheridan was not then on the Council, as it was before Cr. Jackson’s unfortunate death. Cr. Pettie was elected Deputy-Mayor at the "opposition's” instance, not Mr Lys,Kir's, and accepted by the Lysnarites they were aware that they could not sustain anyone else in that position.
(2) CV. Collin's support of Air Lys..ar duruig his absence was apparently not. a_s “Politician'' says, entirely ■ iue to a. promise of support lor the metal tramway, hut according to Cr. Col!in’.s statement in the Garrison Hall on the night before the election when Air Sheridan opposed ALr Lys.:;ir for the Alayoralty. it was due to the fact that the Lysnarites on the (tinned had pledged themselves to accept and follow him as leader. Cr. Hollins -certainly also istated. that Mr Lysnar had promised that he would support the Patutahi tramway open Ids return provided Cr. Collins ! H'havvd himself while he was away, a inVdge which Air Lysnar repudiated ■.-.'hen he returned like a giant refreshed from his travels. C"i\ Collins then i.-rtxT-Hed to inform his audience that . s the Lysnarites had not paid the .'i.-rice agreed upon for his allegiance be proposed to turn again to his first I >ve.- —I am, etc., "HISTORICTS.” Gisliorne.
