NEXT- WEEK’S SITTING. THE CAUSE LIST. The half-yearly Supreme Court sittings "ill commence in Gisborne on Monday next, before His Honor, Air .Justice Chapman. The business comprises only three criminal cases, but tlie civil list promises to be a fairly lengthy one. Following is the corrected cause list: CRIMINAL. Rex v. Aland Thomas, alleged theft of a suit of men’s clothes at Rakarae. Rex v. Phillip Francis Henry Allpress. alleged indecent assault. Rex v. Francis Hill Creamer, alleged theft of a sum of money from 'William Burgess at Gisborne. CIVIL CASES.

George Hutchison, of Wanganui, solicitor. plaintiff (Air Arnold), and Wetini Rilcirangi and other Natives, representatives of beneficiaries in Afaraetaha No. 2a sections 2 and 3. defendants (Mr Kirk), claim for £4BO 14s, bill of costs. Martha Mackrell, of Auckland fur Arnold), plaintiff, and Frederick Hall and another, of Gisborne (Air Nolan), defendants, claim for possession of a building on sledges in Palmerston road, or value, £IOO. and 10s week damages for alleged detention of delivery, or final judgment. Tyser Line. Ltd., and .John Mann Kart, master s.s. Star of Canada (Air iH. Humphries, of C’otteril! and Humphries. Napier) plaintiffs, anti Gisborne Sheepfaruiers’ Frozen Aleat Co., Ltd. (Air Stock), defendants, claim for £5824 3s 2d and'interest at 6 per cent, fro-m August 17. 1912, amount of alleged overcharge for lighterage in connection with the salvaging of frozen meat and other frozen produce from the stranded steamer Star of Canada. The total amount paid for lighterage was £SBfi3 19s (id. and plaintiffs claim that the proper amount, according to Gisborne rates, should have been £2339 16s 4d. the amount which it is -sought to recover thus being 63824 3s 2d, which, plaintiffs claim, was paid under compulsion and duress, without any legal consideration.

The statement of claim sets out that the cattle were yarded in an alley or passage-way, used and frequented by persons attending the sales, instead of being yarded in pens, and that a bullock was thus able to escape and rush plaintiff. Kirk), defendant, claim for specific performance of an agreement of May 18, 1609. hy executing a transfer of interest in certain lands, including Awapuni A2, sections 5 and 7, inadvertently omitted from the said agreement; also £IOO damages for withholding the transfer. IX BANKRUPTCY. Susan Wallace, widow, of Ashburton, and later of Gisborne (Mr Xolan) motion for discharge. John Sloan, of Matawai, settlor (Mr T. A. Coleman), motion for discharge. IX CHAMBERS. Two probate cases have mi far been set down for hearing. Two divorce cases will probably he set down, the time for doing so not having yet elapsed. Divorce cases can he set down until three clear days before the sitting of the Court. In oiHi of the probable eases, the petitioner (a woman) resides in 'Wellington and the respondent in ' Sydney. In .the other cases, the parties are also non-residents of Gisborne. IX BANCO. Frederick Stevens (Mr Burnard) v. D. D. Hutton, appeal against conviction for alleged street betting.
