HEAVY SURPLUS RECORDED. [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT] (Received -Tulv 2. 12:10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, July 1. The Federal revenue for the -wear was £20,534,605, or £1,009.605 in excess of the estimate. The expenditure, including provision for the subsequent years in respect of old age pensions and fleet construction, was £4.710,182, or £1,172,432 above the estimate, and this left £5,824,422, or £4172 above the estimate for the period. Customs excise Yielded £14,711,440, the Pest Office '£3,911,286—both well above the estimate —‘land tax £1,366,353, which is £64,000 under the estimate. Some £1,515.000 m set aside for fleet construction, of which only £1.105,212 has be on expended, due to the strike in England. The amount to the credit of the pK* age nensions and fleet construction fund increased this year by £326,966, making a- total of £2,164.141. waieb represents the accumulated Federal surplus.
