The Tyscr Co’s Star of India arrived on Saturday morning to take up the Star of Canada's running. She will load the cargo taken from the stranded vessel.

Messrs Richardson and Co’s Ripple, which arrived on Saturday morning, left the same night for Napier. The Union S. S. Co’s Navua, which left Auckland at 5.15 p.m. on Saturday, passed the East Cape at 11.15 a.m. yesterday, but apparently struck the full force of the southerly gale and had not arrived up to a late hour last evening. It would have been impossible to tender her had she, arrived. owing to the heavy sea that was. running. The launch has been timed to leave the wharf at 7 o'clock this morning. The Union U. 3. Co’s Haupiri. which left here on Friday afternoon for Napier and I’icton, will not now go to the latter port, far she has been ordered to Greymonth to load coal for Wellington. She will then proceed to Picton and come on to Gisborne, arriving here on Wednesday week. She will then jp to Auckland via Coast ports. The Union S. S. Co’s Kowhui, which left Lyttelton at 2 p.m. on Saturday for Napier, should arrive there to-night. She will probably reach Gisborne tomorrow. On discharge of her cargo she goes to Westport and Greymouth to load coal for Onehunga. ’The Union S. S. Co’s Mokoia, which was delayed last Sunday week at Gisborne on account of bad weather, was a day late in arriving at Dunedin. She will probably be late in arriving here this week, and it will either be late on Wednesday or early on Thursday before she puts in. an appearance here. The Union S. S. Co’s Wanaka left Oamaru on Saturday for Gisborne via the Bluff and Timani. The Craig steamer Ihumata arrived late on Saturday night from Newcastle, via Auckland, with coal. She is 1156

tons, and is commanded by Captain J. Benton, who used to command the Squall. She was sheltering under Young Nick’s Head yesterday, and will probably be brought up the river to-day if the weather moderates: . This will be the largest vessel that has ever come up-the river. She draws 13ft-Gin and has 1200 tons of coal. The schooner Amelia Sims arrived from Wellington on Saturday with pipes and coke. Messrs Richardson and Co’s Rurii arrived from Nelson on Satruday evening with rails from Nelson. She left there on Friday morning. It is expected that she will get aWhy from Napier at 10 a.m. to-day to lighter the Muritai'. The shipments by the Kumara, which loaded at Gisborne, consist of 9780 carcases mutton, 29GS do. lamb, 1508 quarters beef. This cargo was from the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat Co’s works. Among the passengers booked for the south to-day are: Misses Goffe, Hoad, Korto, Sterling, Nicholson, Messrs Peak, Robinson, Truop, Scott, Turner, Leighton, Shanks, Korte, Teule, Leslie, Hall, Simson, Lee, Ryan, Muir, Owen, Fenwick, Quirk, Pitcher, Cole, Newman Meldvum, Todd, Reader, Halliwell and Stoekwood. - The Westport Co’s Eegulus left Westport on Friday for Gisborne.
