A NIGHT IN THE SNOW.
EXPERIENCE OF TWO GIRLS. [ifvDEPEIfDENT PRESS CABLE.] HOBART, June 17. { Two little girls, named Alexander , and Brook man, who live at Bismark, 16 miles from Hobart, went out berrygathering yesterday high up behind Aloimt AYoilington. They lost tlieir way and did not return home. When darkness set in their parents organised a- -search party, who scoured the country through the night, piercing tlieir way over dangerous country with the aid of flickering lamps, ana keeping up a continuous cry of “cooThe night was foarfuly cold. There was a biting wind, and for the- greater part snow fell. As soon as it was light the police, who had been out all night, communicated with the military horse depot at Claremont. Seven men, well mounted, were/sent out to make a i thorough search of the bush, and they ! were quickly successful. j The children were found in scrub \ country, and they had suffered teci ribly. There had- been no shelter, and tho snow was thick on them. One of the girls is in a particularly bad way, but the doctors are hopeful of saving her life.
