defy attempts at ejectment FOR FIVE DAYS. A Ivingstonfon-Tliames Surrey confectioner lias had a. remarkable experience owing to the plague of wasps. During the eviction of the insects from the old pollard trees and other places in the Canbury riverside gardens, where no fewer than thirty-one nests have been destroyed, thousands of the wasps invaded a confectionery establishment at the junction of the Richmond and Woodsido roads.
All efforts to get rid of the pests on the part of the proprietress failed, with the result that the shop had to be closed for five days, during which time the wasps damaged £o worth of stock, besides much business being lost. Finally the invaders were got rid: of with the aid of paraffin and water.
