To-day is the 104th anniversary of the first using of gas in the streets of London.
The Kangaroos (Australian League footballers for England) have chosen C. H. McKivatt as captain and P. A. McCuc as vice-captain for the tour.—Press Association. Owing to the drought, lambs in Kent are selling at a shilling each. Playing cricket for Middlesex against Yorkshire, Tarrant scored 207 (not out). Twelve persons have been drowned at Rodenkirolien, a new bathing place in Germany. A Press Association cable states that the House of Commons will reassemble on October 24th.
