WOMEN FOOTPADS.

Serge Ivanoff, a retired officer of the Russian Imperial Guards, was found lying unconscious outside the fortifications. • ■ _ A stranger to Paris, he set out tor bt. Cloud on Saturday c<ening, June 10. On the way his vehicle broke down, and he started to return to Paris. . Near the Parc des Princes, the other side of Auteuil. he was attacked by two women, who relieved him of his purse and stabbed him with a knife. The Russian, who is a powerfully-built man, struggled with his • aggressors, whereupon one of the amazons, putting a whistle to her lips, blew three calls. Immediately afterwards three amen rushed to the aid of their female confederates, and the visitor was felled with a blow from a knuckle duster. The band then made off, but Ivanoff, staggering to his feet, started in pursuit, calling for help. Seeing this,, two of the gang retraced their steps and savagely, attacked their victim afresh with knives, leaving him for dead. . . Ivanoff remembers nothing more until he found himself in hospital. On his back and chest were 10 knife stabs, two just missing the heart. How he escaped death is a wonder . The two women who participated in the attack have been captured, and the police are also hopeful of speedily catching their male associates.—“ Daily Chronicle’s” Paris correspondent.
