IFEE PEESS ASSOCIATION.! AUCKLAND, June 10. A torrential doAvnpour of rain this morning flooded Queen Street, the Avater flowing over the kerbs up to the building line in many places. Many collars Avere flooded, some as much as 4ft deep. A good deal of damage Avas .done to goods beloAv the street level in various shops. ■ Nearly all the hotels and restaurants in the loAver part of the city suffered severely. In numerous instances the fires Avere extinguished. The cooks Avorked knee-deep in water in various places, including half a dozen leading hotels, in preparing the midday meal. The doA\npour lasted about an hour, and Avas folknved by a steady drizzle.
