[Correspondence on public matters is welcomed at all times, but it must bo distinctly understood that this journal is in no way associated with the opinions of its correspondent!!.]

THE LATE EIRE. To the Editor. Sir, 1 desire to heartily thank correspondents “Anonymous” and /'lncognita” for their exceedingly kind remarks and suggestion that a public subscription list should be opened to recompense me for loss by the late fire. I trust that I shall not appear in any way ungrateful but, as I hope presently to surmount my difficulties, would prefer that it should not be done. 1 am, etc. J. G. COX.
