U. Day was on the Bench, and Detective Bishop sau that the case had been remanded a fortnight ago m order to g n « notice an opportunity to make anqxunes. In the meantime the papers in the case bad been submitted to the Crown Law Officers in Wellington with the result that the police had been advised to take no further action in tlm matter. His Worship said that either one of two things had occurred, either the police had been badly advised when they undertook the prosecution, or the processes or the Court had been misused, it appeared to him (and would probably so 'appear to most people), that eithei the persons who' laid the charges had no proper grounds for doiji„g so, or that the charges were laid with the intention of recovering monies by criminal process., winch they coul»i not have obtained by civil process. Tho case would bo struck out.
