CONFERENCE AT NEAY PLYAIO’UTH. Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 27. The conference of the New Zealand Athletic Union resumed this morning, when all delegates were present. A protest from the Southland centre against the Southland Caledonian Society, which allowed a disqualified competitor to compete at tlieir meeting on New Year’s Day, was ruled in, the society, being requested to make good the deficiency between first and second prize money, and fined £1 Is, to be paid within three months, and the moneys and medals won to be returned. Steps were taken to form a centre in the Auckland province. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Air. G. AY. Woods (Invercargill), re-elected; vice-presi-dents, Alessrs. Duncan (Wellington) and Clark (New Plymouth); auditor, Mr. J: Kennedy (Geraldine); secretary and treasurer, Air. J. Corcoran (Dunedin);. committee, Alessrs. Smith (Paliiatun), Good (Christchurch), Keast (Dunedin), Perkins (AY est Coast). Tho alteration of the constitution, to allow the union being registered under the “Unclassified Societies Act” (ns. drawn up "by Air. Duncan, of AVelliugton), were adopted, on the motion of Air. Keast (Dunedin). The Otago centre was allotted the next conference, and- the championships record book and standards were recommended to be drawn up by tlie executive, the recorder being Air. Alussen (Southland). Han dicappers must be approved by the centre, no handienpper being allowed to compete in any event. Tlie question of holding dual positions under amateur and cash bodies will be considered by tlie present executive. After minor matters were considered, the conference closed, and most of the delegates return home, this morning, having spent a royal time and being hospitably treated by the Band Association, Caledonian Society, and Town Council. Tho secretary was voted a bonus of £25, and tlie president was given, an illuminated address in recognition of liis valuable services.
