Tlie Huddersfield Chamber of Commerce adopted a resolution protesting against the enforcement of the Commonwealth tariff without affording an adequate opportunity for carrying out existing contracts. Mr. Brooke, proposer of the resolution, declared that it was unfair to trap traders into, sending goods at 15 per cent duty before tho tariff was imposed, and then charge 30 when tho goods reached Australia. Alderman Walker," in seconding the motion, said a greater injustice was never perpetrated by any Government. Hitherto time was always allowed before the enforcing of new duties.
