A large meeting of the Australasian section of the London Chamber of Commerce and others interested adopted resolutions protesting against- the imposition of further duties on British goods which, despite the financial support accorded Aus--ralian -..industries, merchants, and investors, will seriously harm the manufacturing - industries of the United Kingdom, and- declaring that the preference given to British goods, although-small, is thankfully received, in the-hope that -it will shortly be increased, and that the sudden levying, especially on goods bought before the new tariff became operative, will cause considerable inconvenience and loss in Australia and Britain unless the time of levying is postponed.
