PARLIAMENTARY MESSENGERS
(Special to Times). WELLINGTON, last night. The Government have issued a circular giving rules and regulation!-' concerning messengers. The. eireulaj rontains the following provisions:Appointment.—All messengers to be appointed on probation for three months. If they are reported oil favorably at the end of that term ;h-3 appointment will be confinnert. Salary.—Messengers will start with a >vhtrv of 7s per diem (Sundays ini lulled). If their record is good at the end of 'three years they should receive an increase of 7d per diem ; and at the end of five years a further increase of 6d per diem (Sundays included). This to he the maximum. Plunk whilst on duty.—For the firs? offence deduct Cd ”or diem for three months, and for a second offence dismissal. Annual leave. —Fourteen da vs per annum. . Mr. Hogg is asking a question whether these provisions are based upon | the cost of living.
