THE WAIAPU RUGBY UNION.

The annual general meeting was held on Saturday, May 12ih, at the Te Puka Hot.-], Tokomaru. Present—Mr Oates, senr. (chairman), Messrs Thornton and Sooon, delegates from Tolago Bay club, and Messrs Newton and Sigley, representing the Tckomaru club. There were no delegates from Awanui, Paikea, or Waipiro clubs. Tbb annual report and balanoe-shoet were submitted to the meeting, The report showed that tho past season was most successful from all points of view, a speoial feature being made of the faot that the Waiapu Uoioo hal come so near to defeating the parent union of Poverty Bay. With reference to the rep. match the report read : “ Poverty B ty had its big gun 3 out for an airing, in view of the mstoh aga’nst Hawke’s Bay the following Saturday, but our man stock to them so strenuously that Poverty Bay narrowly escaped defeat, the points being—Poverty Bay 8, Waiopu 6.” Th 9 balanoe-sheot showed the satisfactory credit of ;£l2 14s 6d,

The election of officers resulted as follows President, Rev. MrFiizgerald (ceelected); vice presidents, Mr John Moore (Tolago) and Mr Oates, sen. (Tcktmaru); hon. secretary, Mr H. C Sig'ey ; treasurer, Mr H. H. Fairlie; auditor, Mr G. Williams. It was resolved that the managing oommittee of the Uoion consist of the officers of the Union, excepting the auditor, with two delegttea from each club,

It was decided to be atriot in the matter of subscriptions, and that none but fiaancial members be allowed to play in any of the Union’s cup or representative matches. The data of the first cup matoh was fixed for May 26sti, when Tolago and Tokomaru will try conclusions. To'ago was chosen by lot a 3 the p'acs of meeting. It wts ro3oivod that the next mtesiog of the Union should be at Toligo on May 26th. It was hoped that by tb:R date tbe other Ooast clubs would be able to send along their delegates.
