WESTPORT TRAGEDY.
(Per Freas Association.) Westport, last night,
Ho the death of Lily Herring, her brothers varied their story when ou oath
it the inquest. Edwin Herring, aged 15, iaid he loaded the gun in the kitchen, vitli the intention of shooting a, blue
crane that lie had several times seen outside lately. He picked up tile gun, and placing it at half-cock, threw it over his shoulder and was walking down the passage when it accidentally went off and shot his sister, who was behind him, He and
his brother, when they saw she was dead, were frightened, and ran away. A verdict of accidentally killed was returned.
