Advicos from Constantinople showing undisguised satisfaction that a rupture was averted proves that the Tubah polioy had few supporters. Tho Tabah garrison was withdrawn by order of the Sultan.
OPINION OF TIMES,

Reeecivod 11.40 p m., May 14, London, May 14
The Times assumed that tho Porte would hasten the recall of Mukhtar Pasha. The incident should convince the Sultan our deterinina'ion to preserve tho i a r ety of the Can 1 and Egypt is immutable. The incident is useful to ourselves, revealing the true objeots of tho railway policy, which was instigated by German military advisers, prosecuted according to German plans, ond with German assistance, financial and otherwise. It would be cur own fault if we allowed the execution of strategic designs against us under tho cloak of the promotion of Moslemism.

THE SULTAN’S DILATORY
CONDUCT.
BRITISH READY FOR IMMEDIATE
ACTION.
By telegraph, Press Abb’ii, Copyrigh Reoeived 1.1 a.m, May 15.
London, May 14,
The Sultan, in agreeing to withdraw from Tabah, declared that the status quo ante was restored. This was regarded as insufficient, and an explanation followed, which, according to the Morning Post, was satisfactory. The Daily Mail states that the Sultan tried to secure demarcation by Turks and Egyptians. The Daily Telegraph’s Constantinople corn spondent states that the Sultan was practioally alone in resisting delimitation by an Anglo-Tuikish Commission. He considers Egypt a vassal State, and that there can be no frontier. He argued that ho originally confided Sinai Peninsula to the Khedive s personal administration. The Mail states that Britain intended to shell the forts at the entrance to the Dardanol'es. Information from other sources makes it still uncertain whether the Porte's sub mission is unequivocal. The Times’ Athens correspondent says that at the best dilatory tactics have been renewed.
The fleet remains under steam &J Phaletum, ready for immediate action ii necessary.
