The butter market is dull. Danish, 109 s to Ills ; colonial, unchanged, except unsalted, whiob, owiDg to large supplies, has declined and is selling at 102 s to 106 a. The quality of tbo bulk of colonial butter is unsatis.'aetory. Cheese is firm. New Zealand, white, 62s to 655; colored, 65s to 66j. The Bradford wool market is exceedingly firm, with little business, Fjrty* sixes, 19Jd ; others uncharged.
On Monday evening Mrs Samuel Fletcher, of Cambridge, nearly succumbed to poisoning, and, bat for tbe timely aid rendered by Dr Reid, she would have died. Mr Fletcher had purchased a bottle of what is koown es “ship’s limejuioo,” and Mrs Fletoher mixed some of it with water and sugar. Her husband had a drink at it in the morniDg, and felt m ill effeots. In the afternoon Mrs Fletcher and the children drauk some of it, and all of them were taken
ill, but Mrs Fletoher was far the worst. Sbe was in groat agODy for many hourp, but ia now recovering, and out of danger. Dr Reid ia of opinion sbe ia suffering from lead poison, but tbe myetery is how it got into the beverage, It ia understood that tenders for the ereotion of workmen’s homes at Ellerslio and Oiahuhu will be oalled immediately on completion of the drainage works connected therewith and the formation of the streets. This work ia beiDg carried out under the supervision of the Roads Department.
