The official weekly review of the pro' gross of the New Zealand International Exhibition states that Mr George Scott, acting obairman of the building committee, and Mr J. C. Maddison, chief architect, during their recent visit to WelliogtoD, had a long consultation with Mr Hay, engineer-in-chief of the Publio Works Department, and tho whole of the plans were then oarefully supervised and oriticised, and certain alterations and additions were ma-ie in the construction of the buildings with the view of making them withstand the highest wind pressure known in New Zealand. The test applied equalled 40 pounds pressure to the square foot, and this test is a most severe one, and such a force has ODly been known in some of the Rimutaka gorges where a locomotive was overturned ; therefore the publio may rest assured that the buildings when completed will be absolutely safe and secure against any hurrioane that may oocur in New Zealand. Applications for space oontinue to pour into the Exhibition offices, and a very large number indeed were received on Thursday. Several inquiries by cable were also received from overseas. The Exhibition authorities are advised that one of the foremost landscape painters in tho United Kingdom is paiDting a special picture of the New Zealand International Exhibition. The i plana of the proposed extensions to the I building have been sent forward to the Government for approval. These additions earry the buildings right up to the ait gallery, the fernery, and the concert ball, and make a complete block of 1000 ft by 270 ft, end tho ma : n building in tbo front 850 ft by 90ft, with the maobiuery hall 300 ft by 300 ft.

A careful cslcu’ation has now been made of all the applies-ions for space received, and it is animated that practically, with the exception of 10,000 ft, tho whole of the blocks will be occupied. The Cabinet haß agreed to the necessary rxtensions of the main building to oover tho amount of space now required. Mr John Roberts. C.M.G., executive commissioner for Dunedin, arrived in town on Wednesday, and had an interview with the local executive commisaionere relative to the Otago exhibits. The contractors for the main building have ocmmenced the work of re-erecting the towor. i
