In the Supreme Court Laurie Smtofi, Wellington lad, who was enticed fromhon: by an elder companion, and after a year travelling got into trouble over forge cheques, appeared for sentence. ML Jut tice Edwards said that after great 'neßiti tion he had concluded he was justified i not sending the boy to prison, he havin been led astray when a mere boy/ by hardened scoundrel. Accused’s father became bond for his good behavior. Thome Kennedy, charged with shoooting a revo! ver to frighten his wife, was sentenced t two years without hard labor. Wiliian Albert Simmonds, for burglary, was’-sen tenced to two years. ■

Oamaru, last night. In the Magistrate’s Conrt Charles Luzon a young man, was charged with delivering to the post office an indecent picture with intent for the same to be delivered to s young unmarried woman at Timaru. He was fined £3 and costs. John Shannon, for stealing £lO 5s :from Martin Burrett, pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court at Dunedin for sentence.
