WILLOUGHBY-GEACH COMPANY.

: “ ON AND OFF.” The above Company’s Gisborne season concluded last night. There was again a crowded audience, and the piece was a •'* success. It was one of those breezy, gientj i mirthful plays suC: - ftR 13 always greatly enjoyed by a Gisborne audience. .. s George Godfray, the amorous husband, Mr TVillough’by bad the main part, and every point was made the most of by this clever actor. Mr Frank Denton, as Alfred Godfray, the real railway inspector, whose visit to George is *he cause of many complications, has a great deal to do, and does it exceptionally w T ell, the character giving him full scope. Mr Tom Cannam played the part of a foolish father-in-law with great success, and Mr George Leopold and Mr Edwin Lester are both responsible for a good deal of amusement.

The popular Miss Roxy Barton charmingly took the part of Madeline Godfray. Miss Roland Watts-Phillips took the part of George’s mother-in-law in the good oldfashioned way, which leaves the poor man little or no peace. The part of Lisette, a young lady-who attracts men by winking, and then when they respond to her advances, boxes their ears and complains bitterly of their conduct, was capitally taken by Miss Millie Ascoli. Miss Ethel Appleton, always good, made a winsome Rose Martel, the young lady George has fallen in love with to the neg. lect of his lawful wife. Miss Marie ( D’Alton did well as Julia, and several others contribnted to a really good play.
