TRAIN ON FIRE.

Much consternation was caused to passengers by the train from Palmerston to Dannevirke yesterday morning. When about a mile and a-half from Ashhurst a truck containing about a ton of tow waß discovered to be on fire. By the time the train was stopped and the truck detached, the tow was a body of flames. A number of railway men were fortunatoly on the train, and they, assisted by the passengers and settlers, were soon at work endeavoring to capsize the truck off the rails. The truck, whioh was a complete wreck, was jacked off' the line, and the train proceeded. It is stated that the truoK-load was valued at £IBO.
