Academy of Music.

A most successful concert was given the above hall lust evening by the pupi of St. Mary’s Convent. School. There wi a large and appreciative audience < parents and friends of the scholars, wl had come to hear the practical results the excellent tuition given by the Siste of both the .Gisborne and Ormond Cc! vents. Gittos ; chorus “The Gipsies,” pupils; dance, “Th fisherman's hornpipe,” pupils; pianofort solo, “ Sonatina in E flat,” Misses Lind Nicholson. A special word of praise is due to Miss 2iieeu Law, who sang “ Eiieen Alannah,” nterpreting this beautiful song in a way hat won the hearts of all present. Miss jullie Power's vioiin solo we cannot let iass without referring to her ability as a iolinist, and it is seldom we have the oportuoity of listening to such a clever oung artiste. Speaking generally of the oncert and of the performers, we have no oubt that the careful training of the listers, combined with their own natural bility, will furnish Gisborne with some of re most accomplished musicians.
