THE BAND CONTEST.
THE RESULTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, last night. At the band contest the marching competition was witnessed by large crowds. The following were the results:—Wanganui Garrison Band, music 76, marching 286, total 364; Woodville, music 66, marching 269, total 335 ; New Plymouth, music 66, marching 265, total 331; Pal-# merston North, music 66, marching 259, total 325 ; Masterton, musio 74, marching 248, total 322; Petono, music 75, marching 244, total 3.19. The contest concluded to-night, the result of tho championship being: Wanganui 357, 1 ; Masterton (disqualified), 355 ; Petone 319,2 ; New Plymouth 306, 3; Palmerston North 305, 4 ; Woodville 288, 5. There was a great crowd at the Opera House, and tho contest was altogether most successful.
