MR. E. P. MOUNTFORD: DEATH AT TAURANGA

The announcement of the death of Mr. Edward Plumer Mountford, which occurred at Tauranga, will be noted with deen regret by many of Mr. Mpuntford's former friends in this district. where for many years he was widelv known first as manager of the Gisborne branch of the Bank of New South Wales and later as a public accountant.

Mr. Mountford came to Gisborne during the First World War after having managed branches of the Bank of New South Wales at Stratford, Oamaru. Masterton and Geraldine. He completed his full term of service with the bank while here, and subsequently com mcnccd business as an accountant, fiiv'lv removing to Tauranga in 1927. Ilis wife, who was a member of an Australian family and whom he married while serving with the bank n( Wellington, died four years ago, and Mr. Mountford is survived by three daughters. Mrs. R. Sherman and Misses Joan and Zoo Mountford, all resident in Tauranga.

During his residence in Gisborne Mr. Mountford took a great interest in social activities and was a member in long siandhw o ’-e Gisborne Savage Club. Another outstanding interest was hort-’culture. He enjoyed good health until recently, and passed away in his eighty-ninth year.

A well-known Wanganui barrister and solicitor. Mr. J. M. Hussey, died last week. Mr. Hussev. who was born and educated in Dunedin, practised his proiession in Hunterville before goin" to Wanganui in 1912, He was an able advocate and was associated with many notable cases in the Supreme Court. A first-class all-round cricketer, Mr. I-lussey represented Otago. Auckland, Hawke's Bay. Poverty Bay and Wanganui. Coif also claimed Mr. Hussey’s interest. Mr. Hussey is survived bv his wife, two sons and one daughter. The sons are Messrs. K Hussev fWanganui) and J. Hussey < R A.F.. England). The daughter is J?rs. Cotton. Raleigh, North Carolina, U.S.A.
