July 31 New Zealand thoroughly deserved the six-point victory in the first Rugby League test against England on Saturday although until well in the second spell the visitors were one point in front. New Zealand scored two converted tries and three penalties to two converted tries and won bv 16 points to 10. The tourists were unfortunate in losing the full back, J. Ledgard. early in the second spell, but before that New Zealand had held the territorial advantage and looked like the winning team. The crowd was estimated at 10.000.
