Mackenzie King’s Empire Service Praised By British Minister
(P.A.) DUNEDIN. July 25. “We mourn today a very great Canadian. Mr. Mackenzie King.” said the Secretary of State for Common wealth Relations. Mr. P. A. Gordon-Walker. at a civic reception in the Dunedin City Council Chambers this morning. “His record public service was unrivalled: indeed he held the record for length of service as Prime Minister, beating Mr. Walpole’s 21 years before he retired.
“Mr. Mackenzie King was one of the great architects of the modern Commonwealth. Those of us who had the privilege to know him learned very much from him. The whole British Commonwealth will revere and remember his wisdom and indomitable spirit. ’
