PROTEST STRIKES AGAINST KING LEOPOLD’S RETURN
(11 a.m.) BRUSSELS. July 24. Scattered 24-hour strikes broke out today in Belgium’s southern industrial belt as a protest against King Leopold's return.
About 6000 miners are out In Leige, Charleroi, Mons and Tubize. No general st/ike appears likely ns thousands of workers in the big iron and steel industries begin their annual twoweek’s holidays today. Jeering and cheering Belgians started a free-for-all fight in a Brussels cinema last evening when a film of King Leopold stepping from the plane at the airport near Brussels on Saturday was shown.
