Increases In Rates Of Pensions Sought By N.Z.R.S.A.

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. June 23. Representations are to be made by the N.Z.R.S.A. to have the rates of pensions increased. Details of the proposed increases were discussed at last night’s sitting of the Dominion council. The following prooosa's were endorsed: (1) That a 100 per cent, basic or disability pension be increased by 10s wcaklv to £4. (2) That an economic pension for disabled service personnel be increased by 12s 6d weekly up to £2 17s 6d with a proviso that it be reviewed with any future Arbitration Court pronouncement. (3) That the pension for a wife of a disabled serviceman with no children be increased, bv 5s weekly to £1 10s. (41 That the pension for the wife of a disabled serviceman with a denandent child or children the mothers’ a’lowance be inc-er.sed by 5s weekly to £2. 15) That the basi" pension for a war widow 02 increased by 10s weekly to £3.

(0) That an economic pension for a war widow with dependent children be increased by 12s Gd weekly to £1 17s Gd

and any further allowance granted by the Arbitration Court.

(7) That the economic pens : on for war widows without children and for war widows over 40 be increased by 12s Cd weekly to £1 12s Gd and £1 17s 6d respeetive’v and nnv further allowance granted by the Arbitration Court.

Increases were also sought in widowed mothers’ pensions and the orphan's pension.
