West Indies' Record First-Wicket Partnership Of 355

LONDON. June 22.

The West Indies’ opening batsmen, Rae and Stollmeyer, today established a record for any West Indies' wicket in England when their first-wicket partnership yielded 355 runs against Sussex.

They were together 280 minutes and each batsman reached his highest score of' the tour. They completely mastered the county bowling on an easy pitch. West Indies declared at 477 for three wickets. Sussex was left with 40 minutes’ batting before stumps during which time 21 runs were scored without loss. At stumps Sussex was still 230 runs behind.
