PUBLIC' BEQUESTS FROM ESTATE OF MR. EDWIN GREEN
A man who during his long life in
the district Rave many proofs of his generosity has left several district »nd national organisations good si use to remember him with keen gratitude. He is (he late Mr. Edwin Green, fcmerly of Matawp.i, from whose substantial estate a total of £ 3800 in bequests to public organisations is provided by his will. A bachelor, almost all of whose relations are in the Old Country, the late Mr Green was a pioneer of the Matawai district and with a partner took up land on tire outskirts of what is row a thriving township. He prospered well, ana during his lifetime made many benefactions. His will indicates clearly his appreciation of the work of a number of public organisations, for it provides for the following gifts:— To the Gisborne branch. New Zealand Crippled Children Society, £SOO.
To the New Zealand Cancer Research Fund Trustees. £6OO. To the Dr. Earnado Homes, London, £2OO.
To the Gisborne Returned Services Association, £IOOO. To the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, Auckland. £IOOO. To the Salvation Army, Gisborne, £3OO.
To the P.B. Plunket Society, £IOO,
To the St. John Ambulance Association, Gisborne. £IOO.
Officers of the beneficiary societies are being advised of the sums bequeathed to their respective causes. The trustees in the estate of the late Mr. Green are Messrs. R. B. Dobson and G. Bradley Smith.
