Indoor Basketball Games Evenly Contested

Spectators of the play on Saturday’s and this morning at the Gisborne Basketball Association’s tournament at the Army Hall were kept in a continual state of excitement with the evenness of the competition, which has not been rivalled in recent years. Complete reversals of form were shown in the various sections, especially among the men. Leading teams which had taken the ascendency on the first day were upset in this morning’s games.

Wellington (B). who were the only unbeaten side up to today, were toppled by Gisborne (A) in an exciting contest by seven goals to four. Outstanding members of a home team which combined well in all phases of play were F, Paviour and L. Roderick The New Zealand representative, A. Bruce, who was playing at centre, stood out for the visitors.

A good crowd followed today’s games and the finals this afternoon are expected to be of a higher standard than previously.
