Bigger Planes For Gisborne Air Services

Twenty-four seater Douglas aircraft are to operate on the Gisborne services sooner than expected.

A National Airways Corporation spokesman in Gisborne yesterday stated (lie new aircraft would be running to and from Gisborne as from July 3. This means increased scaling capacity to the extent of one-third daily on iiie present services. A total of 12(1 seats in and out of Gisborne daily will be available, as compared with ihe present 90.

Douglas aircraft will operate on flic following services: (1) Gisborne to Napier, Palmerston North and Wellington; (2) Wellington to Palmerston North, Napier and Gisborne; (3) Gisborne to Tauranga and Auckland; (f) Auckland to Tauranga and Gisborne. Timetables will be similar to those operating now. It is the intention of the corporation io retain the Lodestars used at present for direct (lights between Gisborne and Auckland.
