SIAMESE KING CROWNED IN BANGKOK

BANGKOK, May 5,

One hundred and one guns boomed over Bangkok today in salute when Siam’s 23-year-old King Phumiphon Aduldet received the gold “crown of victory" from the high priest of the Brahmins in the official Royal anointing and installation ceremony. Seated on the throne after the purification ceremonies, the King accepted the formal invitation of the public leaders to accept sovereignty over the realm of Siam, protectorship of the national Buddhist faith and just leadership of the kingdom’s population. Concluding the day’s ceremonies King Phumiphon presided at an investiture of his consort, Princess Sirikit, as Queen of Siam.
