Malaya’s Anti-Bandit Month Ends
(11 a.m.) SINGAPORE, April 2. Malaya’s “anti-bandit month” ended tonight, five weeks after its launching. Nearly 500,000 civilians have assisted during this period in the campaign against the terrorists. The “anti-bandit month” commenced on February 26 was a special effort to fight terrorism by enlisting the maximum civilian co-operation. The Malayan Government spokesman said that nearly one-half of the able-bodied male population of the federation enrolled as volunteers. The total casualties among antibandit volunteers were one killed, one seriously injured, and four slightly injured.
