PRODUCE MARKET: WELLINGTON RATES

Tree tomatoes and Chinese gooseberries made their first appearance on the Wellington market on Thursday and realised exceptional prices, according to the weekly report of Messrs. Townsend and Paul, Limited, fruit and produce merchants, Wellington.

Heavy supplies of passionfruit have caused a temporary glut. Meyer lemons are realising [amine prices. Quinces also realised very high values. Most green vegetables were in keen demand. However, late sales of cabbages were very much easier. Quotations: —Artichokes. 8s to 9s: carrots, 5s to 7s; kumcras, 28s; swedes, 4s 6d to 6s, all bags; beans, runners, 2d to sd; stringless, 3d to Sd; peas, 4d to Is; all pounds; sprouts, wanted; beetroot 8s to 12s; celery, 5s to 6s: cucumbers, 5s to 8s; lettuce, 15s to 235; leeks, 10s to- 12s; parsnips, 6s to 8s: rhubarb. 12s to 17s 6d; silverbeet., 2s to 4s; spinach, 12s to 17s; white turnips, 4s to 6s; narrows, 4s to 6s, all cases; cabbage, 6s to 13s; cauliflowers, 8s to 15s; pumpkins, 8s to 2256 d, all sacks; onions, 25s cental bag; mint, 3d to Cd; parsley, 4cl to 6d: radish, 2d to 6d; spring onions.
