MAHAKI TRIALS CARRIED OVER INTO FOURTH DAY

Because of exceptionally large entries at the recent meeting of the Mahaki Dog Trial Club on Waihuka station, it was necessary to run the concluding 40 odd entries on a fourth day. The meeting drew about 275 entries.

Visiting competitors were high in their praise of the general manner in which the trials were conducted. Special mention was made of the work of the sheep steward. Mr. T. Scholium, jun., and his team of workers, who handled that difficult task to the entire satisfaction. Mrs. Geo. Shanks was in charge of the meals provided on the grounds. The smooth manner in which the large number of events was run off each day was largely due to the efficient use of a public address system. The announcer was Mr. R. D. Waddington. Both the hunlaway and heading courses were altered slightly for this year's trials. Although the new huntaway course was a decided improvement, it was the general opinion of competitors that last year's heading course was preferable. No doubt, (he grounds committee will investigate the position. Judge's Work Recognised
