Farmland Defined At Birkenhead
(P.A.) - AUCKLAND. March 31. Eight acres of land at Birkenhead which has not been used as farmland for 25 or 30 years and which is overgrown with manuka and scrub yesterday was classified as farmland by the North Auckland Valuation Committee. , It was a case of interpreting the meaning of farmland to conform with the recent I regulations widening exemptions under the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act. The committee ruled that because there was no other intended use to which the eight acres could be put, it must be classed as farmland and its sale must be subject to the Land Valuation Committee proceedings. Mr. W. A. Pointon is moving to sell the land to Mrs. J. Forno. He told the committee he bought a lot of 23 acres purely as a cutting-up proposition. He had not farmed "it and did not consider it at all suitable for cultivation of any kind.
