GISBORNE M.P. SEES MINISTERS ON DISTRICT AFFAIRS
(Special)
WELLINGTON, March 31
Gisborne’s new member, Mr. R. A. Keeling, remained in Wellington after the conclusion of the Labour Party caucus to commence his acquaintance with politics at the centre of the Government. Helped by Opposition colleagues he quickly learned the geography of the long corridors and what lies behind some of the hundreds of doors, for he commenced a number of representations to Ministers on local questions. He has been informed by the Prime Minister’s Department that the water supply problems covering the Tokomaru Bay and Ruatoria areas are still under consideration.
He was dealing with a familiar subject when discussing with the Internal Affairs Department the necessity for a subsidy to the Heni Mataroa Children’s Horne, Gisborne, which requires a new building.
