“The fewer and shorter the speeches I make the better I seem to do," said the Prime Minister, Mr. S. G. Holland, to National Party supporters in Canterbury. In his first campaign he made 1!) speeches and won by 500 votes. Next time lie made 24 and won by 000. Twenty-four were made in the third election and the majority was back to 500. “So this time 1 made one and a half speeches in my own electorate and I got back by 4000,’' he explained amid prolonged laughter and applause.
