RECRUITS FOR NAVY
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 20. Twenty men and eight women presented themselves to the Royal New Zealand Navy Recruiting Board at last week’s sitting in Wellington. "The standard _of recruits is exceedingly good,” said Commander C. C. Stevens who is the leader of the board “They are far better, both physically and educationally, than was expected and though fewer prospective recruits came forward than had been hoped the response is better than in the recruiting drive in Wellington a few months ago ” Second Officer L. IT. Corbin, who is recruiting women for the service in the W.R.N.S., said that those coming forward were also above the average. The board is to visit Mastertoh, Palmerston North. Wanganui, New Plymouth, Te Kuiti, Rotorua, Hamilton and Auckland. It will make another recruiting tour of the Dominion in throe or four months.
